ImageThis treatment using massage techniques working in harmony with stones, relaxes the body at its deepest level. Heat from the stones is transferred to the body by conduction, warming and relaxing muscle tissue and promoting blood flow which carries toxins away from tight muscles and stiff joints. Some stones are placed on the body whilst others are used in the palm of the therapist’s hand for massage itself. This is a very pleasant and deeply relaxing treatment which also aids in reducing tightness and knots in muscle.

Hot Stones Massage is not suitable in pregnancy nor for those with epilepsy, heart conditions, uncontrolled hypertension, any condition aggravated by heat or for those taking medication that may have side effects due to heat or temperature change – please consult therapist for further information.

Pregnancy: Massage is helpful during pregnancy to relax the whole body and relieve lower back and leg pain and is generally safe after the first trimester. Some essential oils must be strictly avoided during pregnancy and it is important that you consult a qualified practitioner who will be able to advise you about your individual needs. Massage should be avoided by women with placental dysfunctions, pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes, toxaemia or threatened miscarriage – you may be asked to consult your doctor before booking an appointment if there is any doubt. Neither Hot Stones Massage nor Indian Head Massage is suitable during pregnancy.

This treatment is currently not offered at the ONHC, but is offered by Pauline at her home treatment room–women only.
